Laurie Baulig joined F&M in 2008 as a faculty member in the Business, Organizations and Society and the Women's and Gender Studies departments. She holds an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Florida as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and is an honors graduate of the University of Florida College of Law. Professor Baulig spent more than 20 years in Washington, D.C., counseling clients on complex legal and public policy matters. She has served as an advocate before all three branches of government; she co-chaired a successful business coalition in Washington; and she participated as a member of senior management in two leading business trade associations. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, the Florida Bar, the Bar of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Christian Hartranft

Christian received his B.A. in Government with a French minor from F&M in 2012. He served on the Executive Board of the John Marshall Pre-Law Honor Society from 2010-2012 and has had some diverse experiences with the legal profession, having interned in the Office of the Public Defender for the State of Delaware and working during the fall 2011 semester with an immigration attorney to prepare a Cancellation of Removal case for an immigrant from El Salvador facing deportation. He also conducted independent research comparing the right to counsel in the United States with that of other industrialized nations with a specific focus on its application to asylum-seekers. He hopes to get his J.D. and to pursue a career in public service law with a focus on immigration.

Akbar Hossain

Akbar is a junior at F&M majoring in Government with a minor in Sociology. Originally from Bangladesh, he serves on the Executive Board of the John Marshall Pre-Law Honor Society and is involved in a variety of community outreach programs at F&M including One World Youth Project and the IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). He is also a Research Analyst at F&M's Center for Opinion Research, currently evaluating the impact of sexual orientation on candidate electability in the United States. He's applying for a variety of junior fellow scholarships with the goal of pursuing his J.D. after graduation.
